What to do in Hungary


  • Sailing on Lake Balaton. Although Hungary is landlocked, the countryside is a perfect place to practice aquatic sports and to go sailing: Lake Balaton, located about two hours west of Budapest.  On this 50 mile long lake, the largest in Central Europe, you can also go ice skating in winter.
  • Sports fishing on the Danube. Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy this sport in the waters of Lake Balaton and the Danube River during their vacation in Hungary.
  • Golf in Budapest. In the surroundings of Budapest visitors will find interesting golf courses, such as the Golf Country Club, 18 miles from the capital of Hungary, right on the Danube. It offers golf courses and a store to rent equipment.
  • Climbing and hiking in Hungary. There are many places to enjoy nature in Hungary: Badacsony Natural Park and its volcanic mountains, the area of Jánoshegyi kilátó, the National Parks of Duna Ipoly, Duna Brawa, the Kiskunsag or the Aggtelek National Park.
