GREEN GLOBE CERTIFICATION AWARDED TO ENTIRE Iberostar HOTELS & RESORTS PORTFOLIO IN MEXICO AND JAMAICA
Twelve All-Inclusive Properties Recognized for Commitment to Environmental Protection and Surrounding Communities
Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has obtained the esteemed Green Globe certification for the brand’s twelve properties in Mexico and Jamaica, further highlighting the company’s commitment to sustainable development. Green Globe is a leading program focused on sustainability in tourism with an analysis of indicators that include energy management, water and land use, waste management and the social and cultural development of regions.
Managing the company’s carbon footprint is an important initiative for Iberostar. As Green Globe recognized properties, Iberostar hotels in Mexico and Jamaica have established certain policies to efficiently improve economic, social and environmental efforts. In particular, the brand’s hotels in Mexico operate according to the below Iberostar “Think Green” program:
- Reduction of greenhouse gases through technologies that ensure the optimum use of energy resources
- Automation of the electrical system and air-conditioning with motion sensors
- Periodic studies which help to detect areas for possible energy reduction
- Reuse of water through the treatment of waste water; all of the water consumed is treated and used for irrigation
- Use of biodegradable cleaning products
- Management of solid waste and encouragement to recycle among the guests
- Promotion of economic development through the sustainable-purchasing policy
Recognized properties include the JOIA Rose Hall by Iberostar, Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites, and Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach in Montego Bay, Jamaica, as well as the Iberostar Waves Cozumel, in Cozumel, Mexico; the Iberostar Waves Tucán and Iberostar Waves Quetzal in Playa del Carmen, Mexico; the Iberostar Selection Cancún in Cancun, Mexico and the Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf & Spa Resort complex in Riviera Maya, Mexico, which is comprised of the JOIA Paraíso by Iberostar, Iberostar Selection Paraíso Maya Suites Suites Suites Suites Suites Suites Suites Suites, Iberostar Selection Paraíso Lindo, Iberostar Waves Paraíso Beach and Iberostar Waves Paraíso del Mar.
