Presseerklärungen von IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resorts
On World Tourism Day (September 27th) in a year where more tourists are staying home or close to home, Iberostar Group wants to put the spotlight on the people who make tourism a strong and more resilient industry.
Rooted in the promise of mutual care and a wish to promote a more responsible tourism industry, Iberostar is committed to creating a long-term business founded on an ecosystem of people who work to provide great sustainable experiences. On this special day, the hotel chain wants to honor them and show travelers who actually make tourism a reality every day. For Iberostar, tourism is the culmination of business, sustainability, research, innovation, talent and bringing people together.
“Travel and tourism have never looked the way they look in 2020. All too often, when we look at the industry, it’s through the lens of the traveler. As a family-owned business, Iberostar’s most valuable asset is the people who come together each day to create the ecosystem around the industry” said Sabina Fluxá, Vice-Chairman & CEO Iberostar Group. “It’s the combination of passions, responsibilities, expertise and culture that contribute to unforgettable experiences. We are proud to support and grow with so many people’s backgrounds towards a common goal of responsible tourism.”
Beyond its more than 100 hotels, beyond the destinations and hot spots, there are people, chefs, scientists, hospitality experts, fishermen and farmers, students and many more whose cultural understanding enriches the industry, offer and the guest experience.
Tourism is David, who has been supplying Iberostar with local fish for many years, and more than 2,700 local partners that Iberostar works with around the world to bring responsible and honest products to guests. Tourism is empowering economies and cultures. Tourism is about opening horizons and creating opportunities for local populations that will have an impact on the future. And being present in 70 destinations with a people team with more than 91 nationalities, for Iberostar, the sector is also a place and an opportunity for diversity and inclusion.
Tourism is Johanna, one of the more than 20 people that work within Iberostar’s Sustainability Office with the purpose of advancing Iberostar’s agenda to leading in responsible tourism. Tourism is sustainability and environment – the convergence of science and experience to imagine more sustainable oceans. It’s about the study of the coral reefs to make the oceans healthier, sharing best practices on plastic waste and less waste, and more meaningful and delicious experiences for travelers and local people through responsible seafood consumption. Tourism is Ramon, a gardener and a beekeeper who is caring for the natural habitat in our resorts. Tourism is biodiversity and nature. Tourism is the respect for and the discovery of local surroundings. It’s about local experts, passionate about the environment and their culture sharing that devotion with guests and with the world. Through its Wave of Change movement, Iberostar works with partners like the Ellen McArthur Foundation and the UN World Tourism Organization to advance and deliver on commitments around waste, emissions and conservation.
Tourism is Raquel, and all the people that define and improve the sustainable construction standards at Iberostar hotels, introducing ambitious circularity policies from the very beginning of the process. Tourism is evolution and embracing innovation, adapting quickly in a changing world. Tourism is also the twenty medical, scientific and hospitality experts working groups which created more than 300 How We Care measures together with Iberostar’s Medical Advisory Board to ensure a safe experience for clients, employees, suppliers, commercial partners, and the environment. At Iberostar, innovation is also the team behind a wide range of projects to offer guests different experiences such as modern gastronomy or entertainment concepts like Star Camp, counting on the expertise of child psychologists and childcare professionals to create fun and meaningful vacations for kids.
Tourism is Dayana, and more than 750 international interns and scholars, discovering the world of hospitality with Iberostar. Tourism is promoting talent and personal development. Tourism is the capacity to harness individual talent, interests and passions that can be developed and shared with guests from around the world. Through constant training programs for all employees, scholarships and fellowship programs, Iberostar supports talent development and inspires students and its own people to explore new opportunities and develop skills, thereby benefiting the communities in which the company operates.
Tourism is Raúl and Carlos, their families, and the 2.4 million guests which Iberostar hotels welcome every year. Tourism is reconnecting with loved ones, it’s recharging to be able to serve communities with passion and peace of mind.
Tourism is care. For Iberostar, tourism is the connection to communities, the celebration of diverse cultures, and the virtuous circle of people taking care of people and the environment. It’s about being passionate about the environment and culture, sharing that passion with guests and with the world.
