Iberostar is switching off the lights to protect the environment

Next Saturday 30 March, Iberostar Group will join the global movement in the fight against climate change, organised by WWF, with a power outage between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

For the fifth year in a row, we are participating in this worldwide movement by turning off our main corporate office and common area lights in more than 120 hotels across 19 countries around the world. Through this initiative, which will be carried out without affecting the quality and security standards of our hotels, we estimate an energy saving of 45,000 kWh and more than 17 metric tonnes of CO2.

This gesture is one of numerous actions that Iberostar implements through “Wave of Change”, a movement that promotes care for the seas and oceans, with a focus on eliminating single-use plastics, and encouraging responsible fish consumption and coastal area sustainability.

With this type of initiative, we aim to raise awareness with our employees and guests about the importance of contributing towards the fight against climate change on a daily basis. We also aim to position ourselves as a responsible tourism reference point thanks to sustainability-focused management of our operations.
