Main beaches in Costa de la Calma:
- Cala Blanca beach: Also known as Es Castellot, this beach owes its name to the watchtower that crowns the area. It is a pretty cove on Costa de la Calma with a strip of sand and pebbles next to crags of rocks to lie back in the sun. It has clean waters and beautiful sunsets.
- Monte de Oro beach: This small gravel and white sand beach starts on the edge of a glorious cliff with Mediterranean vegetation, including stone pines and small bushes so brightly green that they seem to be irradiating light. It is a charming spot where you can get away from it all and enjoy the calm, crystal-clear, turquoise green water.
- Santa Ponsa beach: Santa Ponsa is the longest expanse of sand adjoining Costa de la Calma. It offers eateries, security and leisure facilities. The bay, bathed by calm waters, is surrounded by a park with Mediterranean pine trees that offer shelter from the sun.
- Caló d’en Pellicer: A good place to berth vessels in Santa Ponsa and Costa de la Calma. It is a small brownish sand cove that has an abrupt drop off to deeper water. It is surrounded by a pine forest and houses, protected from the winds blowing into the bay, and has easy access to the neighbouring beaches.

- Paddle surfing in Costa de la Calma: The calm waters in this area of the coast of Calvià are great for paddle surfing, one of the sports that are growing in popularity in Majorca. There are surf schools that can help you gain confidence and learn some basic skills in two-day lessons for beginners before you take your paddle board to sea.
- Scuba diving in Es Malgrat: The islet across the Landing Cross in Santa Ponsa is ideal for scuba diving in Costa de la Calma: underwater caves and a large number of colourful fish against a backdrop of calm, crystal-clear water.
- Golf in Santa Ponsa: Calvià and especially Santa Ponsa and Costa de la Calma offer excellent golf facilities in Majorca. Costa de la Calma holds most of its feasts and festivals in the summer months, when the fine Mediterranean weather invites to have great and long nights out. The major fiestas on Costa de la Calma take place in August, but there are some in other months, as there is always a reason to relax and enjoy the local culture and traditions.
Major events in Costa de la Calma:
- 5 January – Cavalcade of Magi: Es Castellot or Cala Blanca beaches are the stages chosen by the Three Wise Men from the East to arrive at Costa de la Calma. They travel in adorned carriages driven by horses along the coastline to the neighbouring village of Santa Ponsa, where they present the little ones with candies.
- June – Rocío in Santa Ponsa: In Costa de la Calma and Santa Ponsa are numerous faithful rocieros who hold the peculiar Rocío festival, with all kinds of activities for all ages and, of course, performances by renowned flamenco bands from the island.
- July – Es Castellot Festival: Cookout in the open air, dance, children’s games, party, chill-out music by the sea and the traditional correfoc are some of the activities scheduled for mid-July on Costa de la Calma during the fiestas of Es Castellot. An event gathering locals and tourists as well.
- August – Costa de la Calma Festival: It lasts ten days in the summer, attracting holidaymakers who can then get closer to the old traditions of Majorca: the adoration of fire, correfocs and dimonis, and parties until sunrise. Activities for kids, delicious food and traditional sports complete the programme.
- September – Landing Fiestas: Also known as Fiesta of King Jaime, it is the major fiesta in Calvià. Held in early September every year, it features a re-enactment of the arrival of the King and his army at Santa Ponsa bay to expel the Arabs from the area. Celebrations go on for a week.

- Pa amb oli by the sea: Pa amb oli (bread dipped in olive oil) is a typical Majorcan appetiser. They usually serve it with local cheese and Serrano ham, but you will find eateries that prepare it with sobrassada, tuna, etc. On Costa de la Calma, close to Cala Blanca, there stands a small beach bar or chiringuito, on a rocky cove over the sea, where you can taste the most delicious pa amb oli and wash it down with a refreshing drink.
- Nightlife in Santa Ponsa: Fun and eclectic – this is what nightlife is like in Santa Ponsa. Numerous clubs line the coastal road and the village alleys. There are Irish pubs and outdoor chill-out bars where you can talk over a drink or dance till dawn.

What to do and what to see in Costa de la Calma
- Es Castellot watchtower: The watchtower was erected in the eighteenth century to defend the area from the ships approaching Santa Ponsa bay. It is visible from Cala Blanca beach. It is a private property, closed to the public.
- Roman villa of Sa Mesquida: This archaeological site sits in Santa Ponsa bay and is among the first Roman villas excavated and protected in Majorca. Actually, it was found in the 1880s. However, most of it remained unearthed until a century later, when workers on a construction site saw it was larger than they thought.
- Landing Cross: This monument pays tribute to the Christian Reconquista of Majorca by King Jaime I. The King landed in this area of Costa de la Calma, with more than 20,000 soldiers in 143 ships approaching Santa Ponsa bay. The cross has topped the access to the bay from the south since 1929.
