CSR in the Iberostar Group

Iberostar Group sees Corporate Social responsibility as a commitment to society and the environment. Its management model is responsible and ethical in its business operations and relationships with its partners, regardless of where they take place. Its goal: to contribute to the development of a more just and equitable society. 

Our Principles

The CSR policies of the Iberostar Group are governed by principles which apply to all areas of the business group:

  • Good corporate governance, understood as incorporating ethical behavior in all facets of the management and administration of the company.
  • Permanent innovation, understood as the commitment to improve products and services in a sustainable, profitable and respectful manner for individuals and the environment.
  • An optimal work environment which promotes professional development, equal opportunities and a plurality as well as functional diversity in the workplace.
  • A focus on quality and excellence of service as a way to thank our guests for their confidence in us.
  • Concern for the economic, human and social development of the communities where the company has a presence.
  • A firm commitment to the preservation of the environment and respect for natural wildlife in all the destinations in which we operate, with the conviction that a sustainable economy is the proper way forward. 

Interest Groups

The different interest groups or collectives and individuals who influence and participate in CSR policies promoted by the Iberostar Group are:

  • Shareholders. Shareholders are the main impulse of the CSR in the Iberostar Group. As a voluntary act to contribute to the development of a more even and equitable society, with the company as an engine of this philosophy.
  • Employees. The company as such is committed to its employees to promote and develop policies to ensure the principles of fairness and equal opportunity, promoting adequate professional development in an environment of quality and safety in the working area. 
  • Guests. As the main reason for our economic activity, the Iberostar Group collects and integrates the vision of its guests in the CSR, whereby they participate in the management of the company and that the good practices implemented are beneficial to them.

  • Suppliers. They are a fundamental part of the value chain, thus integrating them into the CSR policies of Iberostar Group is critical to the successful completion of the same and for an effective dissemination and awareness of CSR.

  • Society. The CSR policies of the Iberostar Group are to develop a more even and equitable society, therefore cooperation with public administrations, social agents and entities that develop social goals are key areas of action for promoting CSR.

Adherence to Covenants and Conventions through CS

  • The Iberostar Group’s policies are guided by initiatives relating to CSR that are promoted by national and international agencies. On September 16, 2011, the Iberostar Group confirmed its adherence to the World Code of Ethics for Tourism of the WTO and the ECPAT Code of Conduct for the protection of children against sexual exploitation in tourism.
  • The World Code of Ethics for Tourism of the WTO is an international initiative proposed by the World Tourism Organization. Its goal is to obtain a voluntary commitment by entities within a global framework for responsible and sustainable tourism, through the implementation of its basic principles.For more information http://www2.unwto.org/en
  • The ECPAT Code of Conduct for the protection of children against sexual exploitation in tourism is an instrument of self-regulation and corporate social responsibility that strengthens the protection of children and adolescents from sexual exploitation in travel and tourism, and is promoted by ECPAT (End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes) and the WTO. For more information http://www.thecode.org/
