Important information regarding fraudulent communications on behalf of Iberostar Hotels & Resorts
In recent years, cybersecurity incidents and digital fraud attempts have significantly increased globally, affecting the tourism sector as well. We are writing to inform you that a vendor for one of our reservation systems has suffered a cyberattack, which resulted in unauthorized access and the potential leak of reservation contact details (first name, last name, email, phone number of the reservation holder, as well as destination hotel and dates). However, for your peace of mind, at no point were your personal identification number, banking details, or credit card information compromised.
As a result of this unauthorized access, we have detected fraudulent communications via WhatsApp directed at some customers with reservations at our hotels, requesting payments to confirm their bookings. We want to assure you that Iberostar Hotels & Resorts maintains a firm commitment to protecting our customers' personal data and has specific policies and procedures in place to ensure compliance with current data protection and cybersecurity regulations.
What measures have we taken?
As soon as we became aware of the incident, we immediately activated a response protocol focused on security, transparency, and regulatory compliance:
Active containment measures: We successfully implemented active containment measures that effectively mitigated the attacker's exfiltration channels.
Authority notification: We have notified the competent authorities of the incident.

Be wary of urgent requests: If you receive messages via WhatsApp, SMS, or email requesting immediate payments or banking details, do not provide any information or make any payments.
