The end of the year is an opportune time to assess what we have experienced and dream of what is yet to come
This dual perspective helps us to put things in place, recognize major milestones, and set priorities. Allow me to share with you some thoughts on what 2022 has been like for Iberostar Group and a few brushstrokes of thinking about 2023.
In the last 12 months we have experienced the recovery and consolidation of tourism. It now seems incredible that we were suffering the impact of a new wave of Covid with its consequent restrictions in January. Spring marked a turning point and a change of trend that exceeded our expectations and showed the resilience of the sector.
IHG and Iberostar sign a strategic alliance for resort and all-inclusive hotels in the Caribbean, Americas, Southern Europe and North Africa
This is an agreement to market up to 70 beachfront hotels from our current portfolio, which will be integrated into the IHG system under the Iberostar Beachfront Resorts brand
InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (IHG or the Company) and Iberostar Hotels & Resorts (Iberostar) announced last month a long-term commercial agreement for resort and all-inclusive hotels. Through this strategic alliance, Iberostar will retain 100% ownership, preserving our autonomy and values as a family-owned business with an excellent reputation for quality, outstanding locations, and a commitment to sustainability. Up to 70 hotels (24.300 rooms) will be added to IHG’s system under the Iberostar Beachfront Resorts brand, which will become the 18th brand for IHG.

The hotel group presented its decarbonization roadmap at COP27
Iberostar will bring its carbon emissions down to zero by 2030, 20 years before the global hospitality industry target. This commitment was presented in our roadmap towards decarbonization at the 27th edition of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, in November.
