Iberostar TO OPEN NEW LUXURY HOTEL IN BRAZIL
Mr Jose Antonio Gonzalez, Vice Chairman and CEO America of GRUPO Iberostar, has officially announced the addition of a new hotel in Alagoas (Brazil). This new addition to the chain's portfolio will be called Iberostar Magia Maceió.
At an event held in the Town Hall of Maceió in the presence of Teotonio Vilela, Governor of Alagoas; Daniela Novis, Secretary for Tourism in Alagoas; Rui Palmeira, Mayor of Maceió; and Claudia Pessoa, Secretary for Tourism in Maceió, the Executive Chairman of the company signed the agreement and thus sealed the first resort managed by an international chain in the State of Alagoas/Maceió, which means the experience and quality of the all-inclusive system will be added to the city's tourism options.
For Jose Antonio Gonzalez, Vice Chairman and CEO America of Grupo Iberostar: “This agreement is testimony to our firm commitment to an emerging destination which we consider to be central to our international expansion strategy. At Iberostar, we believe in the potential of this destination and we are delighted to contribute to the increase in the offer of accommodation available, as well as to the creation of new jobs, undoubtedly two big pieces of news which are sure to be welcomed with great enthusiasm in the region".
The new hotel complex is currently in construction stages and its opening is planned for 2015. The Iberostar Magia Maceió will become part of the company's Premium Gold category, characterized by its offer of 5-star hotels with luxury services for all the family.
It will have a total of 226 rooms and 18 suites. The latter will be fitted with a double-bed, sofa-bed, bathroom and covered terrace.
Guests will have access to several amenities and high quality services including; swimming pools, a bar, a spa, a fitness centre, four conference rooms – one of which can accommodate 500 people – a mini-market, two shops, a medical centre, a buffet restaurant and Japanese, Italian and Mediterranean restaurants. All have been specifically designed for the enjoyment of its guests.
Alagoas is a small state, whose capital is Maceió, situated in the north-east of Brazil and is composed of 102 municipal districts. The northern coastline of Maceió is currently experiencing a surge in tourism and the beautiful white, sandy beaches, the hundreds of palm trees and its magnificent climate complete a landscape which is second to none – on a par with the Caribbean. The state of Alagoas also boasts the second largest barrier reef in the world which creates spectacular natural pools around the coast.
Iberostar Hotels & Resorts continues its constant search for business opportunities to continue its expansion and growth in two ways: new destinations to add to its portfolio and growth in destinations in which it already operates. This most recent agreement signed by the company is a combination of both, because although this will be the company's fourth hotel in Brazil, it will be its first in the Alagoas region, the second most significant tourist destination in the country.
The new hotel joins the existing portfolio of properties in Brazil including; The Iberostar Grand Hotel-Ship Amazon, Iberostar Praia do Forte and Iberostar Bahía.
