Iberostar SPONSORS CYCLING COMPETITION CHALLENGE MALLORCA
This cycling competition, the first of the professional calendar in Europe, will be known for the next four years as the Iberostar Challenge Mallorca.
Iberostar is currently the sponsor of Iberostar Socas Canarias basketball team, the Iberostar RCD Mallorca football stadium, the Iberostar sailing boat and Toni Nadal, demonstrating the chain's commitment to the world of sport and its values.
Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement to sponsor the sporting competition known as ‘Challenge-Volta a Mallorca’, the cycling tour around Majorca. This important cycling competition, which is the first on the European professional calendar, will be known for the next four years as the Iberostar Challenge Mallorca.
In an act presided over by the Department of Tourism and Sport of the Balearic Islands Government, the Majorcan hotel chain has made a commitment to Unisport Consulting, the company in charge of organising the race, to financially support this competition.
This international race, which celebrated its 20th edition in 2011, has five independent trophies for five different routes around Majorca. The Iberostar Challenge Mallorca will take place between, 5-9 February 2012, with the best cyclists of the circuit.
Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, through this sponsorship, confirms its passion for sport, hard work and the ability to exceed, values with which the Majorcan chain fully identifies. Óscar González, Director of Marketing for Europe of Iberostar stated that, "Sponsoring such an important sport event is very satisfying for Iberostar, and demonstrates our commitment to cycling and Majorca as a tourism destination."
Iberostar Waves Playa de Muro, in Majorca, has been announced as the host hotel for the competition thanks to its superb facilities for cycling. Contestants will stay at the hotel at different stages throughout the race and Iberostar are delighted to have them. The hotel chain has always supported cycling and has a number of hotels which are specifically suitable for cycling enthusiasts. These include:

- Iberostar Waves Playa de Muro
- Iberostar Selection Playa de Muro Village
- Iberostar Waves Alcudia Park
- Iberostar Royal Cristina
Each hotel has a number of excellent facilities including bike parking, repair shops and a sports boutiques.
With the most recent signature of the Iberostar Challenge Majorca, the hotel chain now has five sponsorships in the world of sport: the Tenerife basketball team, Iberostar Socas Canarias; the Iberostar RCD Mallorca Stadium; the Iberostar Boat captained by Javier Banderas, who participates in different sailing competitions, such as the Copa del Rey and the Audi Med Cup; and Toni Nadal, tennis coach of international tennis player, Rafa Nadal.
