"The Iberostar Quetzal was a wonderful all-inclusive resort for me and my wife. We have stayed at several all-inclusives and this is one of our favorite. With the exception of the following suggestions, I would have rated this resort a 10: 1. better nightly entertainment. Two of the nights, the resort had a Mayan and Mexican culture show with outstanding dancers and performers. More of these type of shows are needed. 2. better lunch food selection. We were away the day that a special lunch was prepared. 3. water pressure in the showers needs to be higher. The water temp in the shower needs to be better regulated also. 4. the Fitness facility needs a few more pieces of equipment: bosu ball and swiss ball. Other than these things, we had a fantastic week. The staff was outstanding in every way, the rooms immaculate, the grounds beautiful and very well kept, beach and pool wonderful. "

Not sure...

"Very late getting into our room (5PM, arrived 11AM. Had to call for mosquito control first night. Also, had to have housekeeping clean shower walls because of visible black mold. Meals could have been more tastier. Young people doing the entertaining were good. Appreciated the updating, like recent painting and bedding. Sometimes not enough towels and wash cloths. "

"Our stay at the Iberostar Quetzal was very enjoyable and relaxing. The food was good, staff were friendly, the water was clean and the beach has nice sand. What more can you ask for? We were particularly pleased with the wildlife that makes the resort home... howler monkeys, flamingos, ducks, peacocks, agouti, parrots, etc. Five years ago, we stayed at the Grand Sirenis, also on the Mayan Riviera. We found the G.S. ok, but it left us with a negative impression of Mexico. It was our first stay at a resort and we found the food quality lacking, and the isolation of the resort not to our liking. After five years, we decided to try Mexico again, and were glad we did, finding this stay much more enjoyable. One of the things we liked most about the Iberostar is its location. Playa Del Carmen was easily within walking distance, either by beach, or by the road (not highway). Either way, it was about a 40 minute walk each way, which is a nice distance. Shopping on 5th avenue in Playa Del Carmen is what you would expect, but I was surprised by how long the strip is. We must have walked 15 blocks and not hit the end. Leave the resort and walk the other way, and you will walk past a golf course and into other rental areas. It was nice to have the freedom to explore in a safe area, without having to arrange for a tour (and pay for one). Back to the hotel... the room was always clean and well cared for. We tried 3 of the restaurants on the property. The steak house was very good, but the Italian and Japanese were mediocre. Thankfully, the buffets were very good. We were in Cuba last year and found the food at the Iberostar there to be very poor in quality, so we were pleased that this was not the case with this Iberostar. "

I would really like to return and get to know the staff better. Quality people work here.

"Great experience! Great location! All the staff we met were so concerned that we were #1 having a good time. How refreshing, we're not used to that kind of treatment!"

"Maintenance of the facilities needs attention. Nothing major just a lot of little things. Accommodations were messed up but with persistence we managed to get everything corrected by day three of our 7 night stay. The grounds at this hotel were excellent and the food was average. If you're the type of person who lets these things get to you then adjust my rating to 4. "

"This was our third stay in four years at the Iberostar Quetzal on the Mayan Riviera, so obviously we love the resort ! Everything was excellent--the staff, the service, the food, the beverages, the clean, comfortable rooms, the swimming pool complex, the beach and overall friendly atmosphere. It is a great place to take children--our five-year old grand-daughter loved it, with so many activities set up for kids, as well as the fascinating "wildlife"--peacocks, flamingos, cranes, iguanas, monkeys, turtles, agoutis, coati mundis, pelicans, toucans, even a giant tortoise ! The buffet for breakfast and dinner was superb, and we also went to three a la carte restaurants for supper--the Steak House, the Mexican Restaurant and the highly-entertaining Japanese Restaurant--all terrific ! Bottom line--we look forward to coming back to this resort !"
