IBEROSTAR Rose Hall Beach

May 20-27 2012: Would stay here in a heartbeat!
"The resort was great. The "star friends" were very entertaining - shout out to Monique (Trainee). The bar service at the pool bar was great, but in the lobby it was VERY SLOW - shout out to SANTINO! The pool was an infinity pool that looked right onto the beach. The beach, as I had read before I came, needed more sand, but it was enough to have a great beach experience. There was no real problems with getting chairs at the beach or the pool. Reservations for dinner should be made the first day you arrive - they tend to book up VERY quickly. I would take a look at the menu before just reserving one at each place - we did not like the Cajun menu and so we did one at the Steakhouse and two at the Japanese House (which I wish I could have eaten there EVERY night!) The breakfast and lunch buffets were the same everyday, but there was something for everyone there! The actual hotel room was a bit humid but once in the room the A/C came on and the fan was moving so it cooled down quickly. The views were great from the room and room service was a pretty good option if needed (but if ordering at dinner time expect a LONG wait!). Our group consisted of three couples so we wanted to explore everything. We went to the end of the Beach Hall resort and went into "shops" that were tents on the beach - we learned to haggle right away. DO NOT GO THERE IN A GROUP LESS THAN FOUR!!! It can be very overwhelming! The resort offers free kayaking and snorkling but the hours are funny so go check that out in the beginning. There was a scuba diving lesson offered for free at the pool two times a day and I suggest using that because you never know when you might want to scuba dive and FREE lessons are at a great price! Get involved in the events that they have running each day! I won a t-shirt and a hat for playing in two games! The resort shops have most of the items that you see at all the other shops for about the same price but limited options - if you don't want to bring money off the resort than its a good idea to buy from there for keepsakes (the resort is great because it allows you to use a safe in the room where you pick your own combination). Our group wanted to wait until we arrived and saw the weather to decide on our excursions. Though it said it was supposed to rain all week, it was mostly overcast and when it wasn't it was hot and sunny! We used the travel agents in the hotel and they direct you to the best trips - if you want to go to Dunes River Falls then do the boat trip!! It was $115 a person for: a bus ride to the boat launch where they gave you lunch and bathrooms to use, shops were there on the site if you wanted to buy something (pretty good prices) and then you get on the boat - go out about a mile and get out the boat and snorkle in the coral!! It was AMAZING! and then you get back on the boat which takes you to the falls where a guided tour is given - HAVE A WATER CAMERA FOR ALL OF THIS!! - then you return home on the boat where drinks and dancing occur to the bus and then home (10am-630pm). The other excursion we bought was to Negril - you take a bus to the Margarittaville in Negril where you are at the beach, can eat and do water sports - then to the shops where SHOP #10 is the best but always crowded! - and then to RICK's CAFE where you get to see the most beautiful sunset in the world and go CLIFF DIVING!! It was amazing to feel the rush of jumping! Our group also went to the Margarittaville in Montego Bay but during the daytime by taking a taxi off the resort - we had Taxi Offical take us and they were great! This Margarittaville was different from the Negril one because there was a slide from the restaurant into the water with a TON of water toys to jump and play on - great for families and all! Overall this was a GREAT time and I would DEFINITELY stay here again!"Rating: 9,0
It was an OK resort; the buffet food needs improvement; staff was very nice, though.
"The resort was just OK. I've been to better all inclusives. While the bathroom was nice, they didn't have robes for guests. The lunch and dinner buffets were lacking any really good food but I did enjoy the breakfast buffet selections. We were lucky enough to get 2 sit down dinner reservations so I didn't mind eating the buffet for 1 dinner. Pool and beach service was great. Staff was friendly, for the most part. The door greeter for breakfast was so pleasant. I don't recall her name but the one morning (I believe it was Sunday 10/23) she wasn't there, the greeter was very unpleasant. It was nice to see the regular greeter back the following day. The beach activities and the disco were great. Just wished the music was a little quieter on the beach. The Saturday lunch on the beach was great. Very good food, well set up, and a great change from the buffet."Rating: 6,0
For me and for all my family, it was the great vacation that we dreamed about it.
"I spend the last week at Iberostar Beach in Jamaica with all my family (8 adults and 2 babies) and we all enjoyed that. The service, the food, the beach, the people working there, all were great. The only comment is about the entertainment, the shows were not like I was used to see in others resorts. But I also understand that it was not the peak season. Thank you very much for all.Danielle Luc"Rating: 8,0
