If Heaven on Earth does exist, it is in Cayo Guillermo. Endless white sands and tropical rainforests make the unspoilt beaches in Cayo Guillermo – peace and condensed Caribbean beauty for one of the tiniest keys on Jardines del Rey, a wonderful archipelago next to Cayo Coco. Despite its size, Cayo Guillermo can boast of having one of the world’s finest beaches: Playa Pilar.

MaIn beaches in Cayo Guillermo:

  • Pilar beach: Also known as ‘Playa Hemingway’ after the American writer, this heavenly white-sand beach is said to have inspired The Old Man and the Sea. Pilar beach is a natural gem that seems to have been taken out of the perfect beach postcard: bright sand, clean turquoise water… At just 1km into the Caribbean Sea there is the world’s second largest coral reef. This makes Pilar beach a perfect place for divers.
  • El Medio beach: Located in the area of Punta Rasa, north of Pilar beach and past the nature park, Playa del Medio is the smallest beach in Cayo Guillermo. Crescent-shaped, it is surrounded by leafy forests where mangroves, coconut trees and palm trees live. The perfect place to get away from it all, it is less popular (and so less crowded) than Pilar beach. It is closer to the touristy area too, which means you will have easier access to a wide variety of services.
  • El Paso beach: The most popular beach in Cayo Guillermo, El Paso offers the fullest range of services too, for it lies closer to Cayo Coco and the few hotels standing on the exclusive tip of Jardines del Rey. Here you can rent diving or kitesurfing gear, engage in all kinds of water sports, or just lie down in the sun facing the Caribbean in the most relaxed of atmospheres (loungers and parasols available).
