I had a great vacation and enjoyed myself - however, if I had to do it again, I would have chosen a different place. It is a new resort and needs to get some issues worked out. If you have children this is a great place to stay.

"I think the resort is beautiful. The beach was clean and the water was clear. They could add a bar or something on the beach. The one waitress for the entire beach took half an hour to bring us a drink and only came by once and it is a long walk to the closest place. The staff was very friendly. I believe they were understaffed. There was a great variety of food at the buffets. The majority of the food tasted great. However, I wish that a buffet was not our only option for breakfast and lunch. I would have liked a sit down al a carte place to choose from. Also, our first night we were hungry at 6 pm and there was no food available other than room service. I did like the specialty restaurants. You had to make reservations and they were booked the first two nights we were there. The steak house definitely needs an air conditioner. We had dinner at 6:30 and we were HOT!!! The rooms were nice, clean, and we had no problems with anything related to the rooms. We would have liked more than 4 English speaking channels or at least to get the closed caption to work. The shows at the theater were great, our favorite show was the Mexican dancers. Other than the beach, the shows in the theater were the best part of the entertainment. I would say this is a great resort for families. This resort seemed to cater to families more than couples or adults. The pool was gorgeous but there was only one main pool with the swim up bar, there were children everywhere, including the bar. The guest would also get up early and claim a chair, so if you didn't make it to the pool until the afternoon there was not many options other than to sit away from the pool. The activities were more for children; they did not have a program that was very helpful to plan your day. You had to speak to 3 different people to make any kind of arrangements. They did not offer taxi or shuttle service to anywhere outside of the resort. So there were times that we had nothing to do. We went to the golf course (it was beautiful & $79 for green fees and a golf cart per person. Each person needs clubs, if you rent they are $26.00 - they have good brands but old) and we asked someone at the valet which direction it was and they said about a mile walk. Never offered a ride, however, the golf course let us know that someone from the resort would come pick us up. It would have been nice for the valet to tell us that before we walked all the way there. Also, if you want to take surf lessons I recommend using WildMex. You will have to book this yourself. The resort uses Vallarta Adventures and they are overpriced and do not include transportation. WildMex charged $45 per person with transportation. They are super friendly. They had a photographer that sold us a disc of 150 pictures for $40.00. If you know how to surf just go to Sayulita and rent a board for 150 paseos on the beach. "

    Fun in the sun

"Can't believe the wonderful vacation we just had. 1 week was not long enough. The food was great, plenty of selection and always plenty of food. Did not have to wait to get a table or for the food to be replenished. The staff are all helpful and nothing appears to be too much. The rooms are as expected, clean and airy. The entertainment is not broadway or the West End but it gets better with a few mojitos. The pool is a nice size with the only downside, the kids hanging around the wet bar which could be easily remedied with a line across the area to keep them out. Plenty for the kids to do and the entertainment staff are enthusiastic. Would love to go back."

We especially loved the view of the sunsets each night from the rooftop patio...SPECTACULAR!!! And the shows each night were fantastic! Best entertainment at any resort we have ever stayed at!

"My family of 7 recently stayed at the Iberostar Playa Mita just north of Puerto Vallarta. We don't have a single complaint about this property- everything was AMAZING from the rooms to the food to the service (all...cleaning staff, waiters, waitresses, front desk, everyone!) We would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone interested in going to a very nice all inclusive property! We have been to all inclusive resorts all over Mexico- Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Cabo San Lucas, Puereto Vallarta, etc. and this one is BY FAR our favorite! "

    great

"Every summer, my family (2 adults, 2 children - aged 10 and 5) goes on an All Inclusive vacation. In June, we went to Aruba, but came back home feeling like we didn't bring back any culture, so we decided a trip to Mexico. We have been to MX several times, and every time, the service is excellent. The Iberostar Playa Mita, was amazing. Considering how new it was, there were barely any glitches. We got an Oceanview Deluxe room, and in my opinion it was worth the extra bit. The property itselt is very spreadout, so you might want to put in a request to be closer to a certain area, if getting from point a to point b is an issue. For us, I thought it was good excercise, walking to the buffet everyday. The shows were ok....we have seen better in Mexico, but for as new as the property is, I think they do a good job. Candy in the Kids Club is super amazing. You can tell, just from the way she communicates with the kids, that she loves her job. Bryant (Zumba instructor) was fantastic as well....I did Zumba every day at 4 pm with him. We celebrated our son's 10th birthday there, and everyone made it very special. My son was called on to the stage at the end of one of their shows and the performers sang "Happy Birthday". They also gave him a special slice of cake for his birthday at the restarant. Francisco (worked the grill at the Buffet), knew exactly what I wanted every time I stopped at his station. He had so much passion. He remembered exactly how I liked my fish. Another neat thing about this property was that they had at least 5 Concierge desks, strategically positioned. So, there was no need to stop at the FD for anything. And the Concierge, especially Reyna and Monica, we excellent. The 1 thing that I think people should know, going to this property is that it is tucked away. We have been to MX several times, so it wasn't that important to do excursions. We took a cab to Sayulita 1 day (300 pesos one way), my son did some surfing, my husband got a massage on the beach and I got my hair braided. There is a public bus that goes to Puerto Vallarta from outside the hotel, but I didn't want to do it, because i was an hr ride. Also, if you want to do jet skiing, there is a vendor to the right of the hotel (facing the beach), who has very reasonable rates...we paid $40 for 30 mins for my husband and 10yr (as my son had to ride with an adult). And the hotel has free wifi! Although everyone provided excellent service, these are the names that I took down: Wendolin (HSKP), Monica and Reyna (Concierge), Brenda and Candy (Kids Club), Armando Tapai, Bryant, Armando (Entertainment), Jenny, Emily, George and Les (singers), Arturo and Erubey (Front desk), Francisco (grill), Sandro and Vidal (Buffet). No complaints about this property at all. "

My daughter and I had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to recommend the accommodations to anyone

"The complex is absolutely beautiful. All staff went out of their way to be helpful and very courteous. The conscierge on the third floor especially helpful Analle? Of the speciality restaurants, we chose Mexican for the best food experience. The steakhouse had a challenge in getting my steak medium well and not rare. The Japanese restaurant was good except with such a large group of people and us being the last we got cold vegetables and rice and short changed on the meat. And then felt rushed out the door. Gourmet restaurant was lovely setting, presentation of food was wonderful but seemed to be lacking flavour.... I had a steak. Tough. The buffet was a nice variety of food. Could use another person to make omelettes in the morning and fruit replaced. We were off season so wonder how things would be at the busy time. I like the Riu Vallarta for the large fruit bar and a few omelette stations "
