What to buy in Jamaica and where?

  • In every corner of Jamaica, tourists will find artisan craft markets where you can buy necklaces, wood carvings, woven baskets ... all handcrafted.  A very typical item is the wooden drums, which is part of the heritage of the African-American past and the traditional culture of Jamaica.
  • In the typical street markets, also located on the beaches of the island, tourists can find various items of Rastafarian culture, bracelets, hats, shirts, pins ...
  • Blue Mountain coffee, bottles of rum, pepper sauces and hot sauces are very typical souvenirs of the Caribbean gastronomy. Jamaican sauces are very good with fish, chicken and pork, and are mixed with rice and vegetables.
  • In Ocho Rios, shopping fans can enjoy Gloucester Avenue (dubbed the "Hip Strip"), a street full of duty-free shops, souvenir shops, restaurants and bars.
