Our guests reviewsIBEROSTAR Averroes
Overall a great holiday
"We stayed at the iberostar AVERROES Tunisia, for 11 nights, arrived at 1.30am Sunday morning to a warm welcome taken to our room by a porter, on entering our room we were amazed at how big it was, the only down point is that the rooms consist of two 4ft beds rather a 4ft 6 or 2 3fts but this was not a problem as we pushed them together, we did speak to reception about a possible move and all other rooms were full. We spent a lot of time at the hotel and around the pool, hotel, rooms, pool, dining room and beach all very clean and tidy lots of cleaners around all times of the day all very polite and welcoming especially the man who cleans around the pool, spends a lot of time calling the women shakira. Animation team were all very lovely and always workd hard to provide activities for everyone, no pestering though if you wanted to take part you can if not they didn't mind, evening entertainment wasn't anything special but when it's the job of the same animation that works all day 6 days a week, you can't expect too much. The food was ok we always found something to eat but after a few days it became a bit repetitive, we used the dine around option and visited the chich khan which is Mexican and it was lovely defintaly recommended. Ramzi the waiter in the main restaurant was very welcoming and helpful not always the quickest to tidy away your plates but who cares when you are made to feel welcome. We done 3 trips 2 through Thomas Cook and one though the hotel. The qud bikes we booked through the hotel and make sure you book them with the bloke with the quad bike t shirt, they can be very pushy and will tend to pester you unless you outright tell them yes or no. The qud bikes very brill very worth the money. We also done the welcome tour and 3in 1 trip though thomas cook. The welcome tour was a good way to see the different parts if hammemet and worth doing if you want to find out more. The 3in1 was overall brilliant the first part consists of a visiting a village built in a hill nothing amazing just a half and hour stop to have a drink and take in the views, next stop was the friguia animal park your spend around 2 hours here, its not massive and 2 hours is enough. It has all the African animas, such as tigers, lions, and elephants. Whist your there, with some of the animals there are zoo keepers, we paid 4 dinar and fed giraffes and wallabies. The final part of the trip is on a pirate ship were you go round the gulf of hammemet on the ship, you have a BBQ lunch and lots of different entrainment such as dancing, singing and a man doing stunts such as laying on a bed of nails. Now to highlight a bad point (possibly the only one) after the 15th sept the hotel turns off its air conditioning, this is fine it your Tunisian and used to 30 degree heat but not great if your not, lots of guests took this issue up with both the manager and rep and were told there was nothing they could do and that in the broucher at the hotel it does state this however it doesn't state this at the time of booking. Overall we had a great holiday and would consider returning to the hotel again Many thanks. "Rating: 8,0
"Overall our stay in the hotel was great, rooms very clean and well looked after, great service in all departments. Food was fantastic, day time entertainment was great, staff always there to help and nice. The only thing that wasn't actions fast enough was an awful dead cockroach left in the corridor area for more that half day although reception was told several times to clean it up."Rating: 9,0
We really enjoyed our stay, because the rooms, the food, the pool, the gardens and the activities were all great. It is just a shame that so many little things have not been improved, as it had potential to be a fantastic place.
"The food was generally great, but there were no chips for all of our second week which was a big problem- kids like chips! It would have been nice to have one outside area that was NON-SMOKING. As guests could smoke wherever they liked outside, non-smokers like us were forced to always eat inside. The tennis court needs some attention, as it is close to collapsing. It would be good to have the hedge cut lower between the pool and beach so that both the view and breeze is improved around the pool and gardens. We were very aggravated by the fact that they played the same music over and over in the hotel-sometimes one track would play for over 2 hours. The water-sports were very disappointing-they need to have some surf boards, more paddles (very few available- 8 boats and only 4 paddles!), there should be at least 2 pedaloes (there was only one). The man in charge of the water- sports was just too laid back-he wrote nothing down so it was very disorganised, but he needs to book out the windsurfing not try to remember because he was getting in a muddle and letting people down. The foyer, bar and main restaurant were often inadequately air-conditioned which made them too hot to sit in comfortably. They should either have the air con higher and doors that stay closed, or have some floor or ceiling fans to circulate the air.It was disappointing that the tea/coffee/juice machines were not available for lunch or dinner (only breakfast). They need some self service drink machines in bar area to take the strain off the bar-there is only one bar and often only one barman, so long queues result for drinks. "Rating: 7,0
In general I recomended hotle for holidays.
"Very good hotel close to the beach. Food was really fantastic but service in restaurant during lunch time and dinner on area close main door was so poor but only by one of the oldest waitress. I think you should to think about prices - they are a little bit to high. "Rating: 9,0
"My daughter and I stayed in the Iberostar Avveroes in Tunisia in July 2013 for a week. We had an amazing time, the staff of the hotel could not do enough for us. We always had a table waiting for us in the restaurant and the staff were always happy and helpful. The staff in the bar were lovely to us, always asking if we were ok and bringing our drinks to us, especially Hassan and Abdul. We loved all of the animation team but especially Memo and Moez, they always had loads of energy working so hard and always had time to chat. We admired them all working so hard as it was Ramadam and particularly hot. The hotel is lovely but the staff make all the difference. Thanks for a great stay."Rating: 10,0
