Cuba

The most important Cuban holidays and festivals

  • Words cannot describe the incredible dance, folklore, and music that Cuba displays during its festive carnivals. Occurring on various days of the year, thousands of people flood the streets with enormous floats and march to the beat of music. Carnivals take place throughout the country, but the most popular are those of Santiago de Cuba, Camagüey, and Havana
  • Holidays linked to the practice of Santeria are also very popular in Cuba. A large part of the island conserves these traditional ceremonies by integrating their music and dance with local religion.
  • Other days during the year commemorate Cuba's independence, liberation and historical past. Specifically, January 1st is Liberation Day, July 25th through 27th marks the Day of the National Rebellion, and May 20th is Independence Day.
