Beaches: Cayo Los Ensenachos

The beaches in Cayo Ensenachos are the perfect example of what we have in mind when we think about the Caribbean: bright, long tongues of sand lapped at by crystal-clear water, flanked by rocking coconut trees and surrounded by mangroves. Cayo Ensenachos is an unspoilt islet featuring two big beaches: Playa Ensenachos and Playa Mégano – two natural areas that seem to have been created for relaxation and rest.

Main beaches in Cayo Ensenachos

  • Ensenachos beach: This huge unspoilt beach, with white sand and calm waters, is easily accessed. Being 1km long, it lies in the western part of Cayo Ensenachos and is perfect for water sports like kayaking or snorkelling. There is a yacht club and the traditional palapas (sort of beach huts) to protect bathers from the Cuban sun.
  • Mégano beach: This lively beach has a restaurant with live music performances right by the sea. The beach is a 1km long tongue of sand that attracts families with its calm and warm water all year round. The yacht club separates it from Ensenachos beach.
  • Perla Blanca beach: One of the best beaches in the neighbouring key of Santa María, famous for its heavenly landscapes and the wide strip of sand. With larger waves than other beaches in Cayo Ensenachos, it attracts larger crowds too.
  • Las Brujas beach: In Las Brujas key, very close to Cayo Ensenachos and Cayo Santa María, this heavenly 2km-long beach has fine sand, turquoise water and a rich underwater world. There is a marina and a specialist diving spot, so the beach is always brimming with divers.
