  Sports

Several years ago, the Jamaican bobsled team captured the international spotlight at the Olympic Games. As a visitor to the island, however, you'll want to pursue a sport better suited to the idyllic tropical climate. Here are some sporting activities to entice you. Golf - The best courses are found around Montego Bay. Surrounded by a 19th century sugar plantation, The Tryall Club course features a Ralph Plummer design. At the Ritz-Carlton, you'll find two challenging courses: Half Moon, designed by Robert Trent Jones, and White Witch, on the grounds of historic Rose Hall. Fans of White Witch will also enjoy Cinnamon Hill Ocean Course, by the same designers, which is located on the grounds of a greathouse. Birdwatching - Birders flock to Jamaica to see the Jamaican Tody, which nests in underground tunnels, and the Vervain Hummingbird, the world's second-smallest bird. To see and feed some of Jamaica's colorful birds in their natural habitat, visit Rocklands Bird Sanctuary, just outside Montego Bay. Fishing - From Montego Bay you can charter a boat and go in search of kingfish, sailfish, marlin and wahoo. Salty Angler Fishing Charters offers half-day charters, so you can get back to the beach while the sun's still shining. Ziplining - About 20 minutes from Montego Bay, Jamaica Zipline Adventure Tours offers an exciting way to see the Caribbean canopy with four ziplines ranging from 250 - 1,200 feet.
