WHAT CAN I BUY AND WHERE?
 Crafts and lavender
Traditional markets are common in Dubrovnik. There are also many shops that sell traditional products from the area, such as crafts or leather objects, not to mention embroidery and lace. One place particularly worth going to is Dubrovacka Kuca, an art centre in the historic Tower of St. Domonic, where you can buy works by the country's artists and ethnic items, plus local wine, olive oil and sweets.

NEEDLEWORK
The port in Dubrovnik is full of women selling their own needlework to tourists. It is mostly embroidery, the country's main craft product. The most characteristic design is red geometric motifs on a white background, and they can be seen on both table linen and women's blouses.

PERFUMES
One of the main memories people take away with them from Croatia is the delightful smell of lavender, which grows wild in the fields and on the islands. This traditionally grown plant is sold in bags or bottles as essence. All kinds of cosmetic products made of lavender can also be purchased.

FOOD
Local cuisine also makes an ideal gift. Many visitors take home food such as one of the many varieties of cheese produced in Croatia. One of the most well-known is paski sir, a cured sheep's cheese made following the traditional method. People also often buy a variety of the area's virgin olive oil, which is flavoured with herbs.
